The incumbent Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan, hails from Attock district and took oath as the Governor of Punjab on 10 May 2024. He is an experienced political leader who has previously served as Federal Minister, Minister of State for Defence, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. During the coalition government from September 2022 to August 2023, he also held the position of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis, where he played an important role in addressing the concerns of the Pakistani diaspora.
In his capacity as Governor of Punjab, he also serves as Chancellor/Patron of public and private sector universities across the province, including medical universities. In his current tenure, he has special emphasis for climate action and Health security through capacity building and partnership programs across the globe.
