As Head of Unit Public Health Functions,Vicky Lefevre oversees Surveillance, Microbiology, Epidemic Intelligence,Emergency Preparedness and Response and PublicHealth Training at ECDC.She joined the Centre in 2018as Head of Unit Surveillance andResponse Support and has taken upher current position in 2020.She was previously aDirector-General in the Belgian Food Safety Agency, responsible for the Control Policy in Plant Health, Animal Health, and Food Safety.Between 2009 and2012, she was a research programme officer with the European Commission, DGResearch.She is a veterinarian by training and has been involved in food safety and public health from different angles in a one health perspective since the start of her professional career with theBelgian Food Safety Agency in 2003.
